The TV above the fireplace
Does it have to be the elephant in the room? We say "no."
For both viewing height concerns as well as design considerations, we generally try to discourage our customers from installing large flat panel displays above the fireplace.
The bottom of the screen should be positioned close to seated eye level, for optimum viewing enjoyment. For as much as we love big TV's, they can be a fairly large negative space when inactive.
We think it's just fine to display art work above the fireplace, and the retractable art work concealment systems we use are truly wonderful. You can choose from hundreds of choices for the image, or easily use one that is more personal and have your piece custom built.
